Railroad Depot Pavilion Fundraising Project

 Depot pavilion drawing

The Burton Area Chamber of Commerce is helping raise funds to build a beautiful, functional pavilion on the grounds of the Burton Heritage Society's Railroad Depot & Museum to offer shade and shelter for all kinds of community events like the monthly Burton Farmers and Artisans Market , semi-monthly Trade Days, and the annual Texas Ranger Day and Oktoberfest which are all ways to help bring commerce to Burton. This pavilion will bring citizens and visitors back to a very important spot in Burton 's history.

From 1870 to the early 1950s the depot was the center of town, where locals and visitors gathered.  This structure will serve the community and all visitors as a year-round resting spot near Burton 's historic downtown. The 36' X 66' open pavilion will complement the architecture of the restored Railroad Depot and will be located on the South side of the depot, which is owned by the Burton Heritage Society.  The Burton Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to start this important community project and see it through to completion. The pavilion's estimated construction cost is $70,000.

A sponsorship program has been started to make the fundraising process more interesting and fun.  The sponsors names will be posted on a sign near the pavilion to thank them for their generous contribution.  The levels of sponsorship are represented by railroad jobs.
